Une fois par trimestre en dehors de nos initiatives sociales (don de sang en équipe, cadeaux et visites aux enfants malades à l’hôpital,etc) le club des Riviera Golf Golden Eagles (en Côte d’Ivoire🇨🇮) essaye autant que possible de faire un événement dans un autre endroit que la Riviera Golf, ça peut être une autre commune ou une autre ville par exemple ! Le Samedi 28 Juillet 2018, Nous avons ainsi décidé de faire un entraînement déplacé dans la ville touristique de Grand Bassam (ville historique et balnéaire inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l’Unesco )
En dehors de l’aspect mouvement et déplacement des membres du club (joueurs et non joueurs) en car et de parfaire cet exercice d’un point de vue organisationnel, ce entraînement déplacé a plusieurs objectifs :
1) Il permet à certains de nos jeunes défavorisés qui n’ont pas souvent eu l’occasion dans leur vie de sortir et d’aller à la plage, d’y aller en équipe et conforte la cohésion du groupe
2) cela permet au groupe de s’entraîner, comme c’est la coutume chez les Golden Eagles de façon toujours très physique mais cette fois-ci dans des conditions plus difficiles que d’habitude (le sable, le soleil et +de 4h d’entraînement vous force à vous dépasser et aident à renforcer l’esprit de corps des différentes escouades et du groupe en général )
3) Cela permet au gens de cette ville (mairie, résidents, touristes) de découvrir le Foot US, et réaliser que ce sport est bel et bien vivant ici (plusieurs touristes occidentaux notamment américains de passage ont d’ailleurs été agréablement surpris)
4) Ça permet à la fin de l’entraînement, de se détendre ensemble, de manger, avant de remonter dans le car et rentrer à la base en aillant passer un bon moment et des souvenirs pour la vie
5) L’endroit où nous avons effectuer notre entrainement déplacé est le même endroit où 2 ans plus tôt, les terroristes avaient tué plusieurs dizaines de personnes (l’un de nos coaches était d’ailleurs présent ce jour là et avait failli y laisser la vie) ; au delà du sport et de l’hommage ainsi rendu, c’est aussi d’une certaine façon montrer que la vie continue et que les Golden Eagles, ( et par extension toute la Cote d’Ivoire ), vont de l’avant avec Amour et Passion et cela malgré les épreuves et les difficultés !
VISITING THE HISTORICAL TOWN OF GRAND BASSAM AND PRACTICE ON THE BEACH
Once every three months, when it’s possible, apart from our social activities (Blood donation, visiting sick children at hospitals, giving gifts to orphans etc) The Golden Eagles do a practice session outside of the neighborhood of Riviera Golf, in another town or another neighborhood, we call that move an “away Practice” . Saturday July the 28th 2018, the historical town of Grand Bassam was selected for that “Away practice ”. Grand Bassam is one of the most famous town of Ivory Coast ! The town is well known for its old colonial style houses, its Beaches and is a UNESCO world heritage city .
Apart from the general repetition and organization needed in moving the entire team, the main Goals of this type of “Away Practices” are :
1 – A lot of members from our association and our team come from very poor background and didn’t have a lot of opportunities in their lives to enjoy themselves at the beach, going and being there with the team, is a good way to reinforce the bond between teammates.
2 – The Golden Eagles always pracise hard whether it’s under heavy rain or intense heat , but pratising on the sand during more than four hours adds another dimension to it ! It forces the players to push their limits and make the different squads on the team work harder together .
3 – Grand Bassam is a important tourist site and us practicing on the beach atracts a lot of attention from locals and tourists who did not american Football existed in Ivory Coast ! By Practising there, we help promoting our sport to the public. Some tourists from America who happened to be at the beach that day said they were very nicely surprized to see us practice & play ; they didn’t know there were football teams in Ivory Coast and warmly congratulated us for the intensity and the level of our practice session .
4 – After practice members of the team can eat, swim, have fun and relax together before heading back to the bus to return to Riviera Golf . These type of moments spent together help cementing the team’s identity, strengthen the bonds between players and create memories for life .
5 – Last but not least, the very spot where we had our ‘Away Practice’ was the same place where Two years earlier a terrorist attack had dozen of people killed (one of our coaches who were present the day of the attack almost lost his life that day ). Practising there was our way of paying hommage to the victims, our way of showing the victory of life over death, that despite the hard times, life goes on and that We (Golden Eagles and by extension the whole country of Ivory Coast) keep on moving forward with Love, Faith and Passion .
